Defining the Problem
Increasing and excessive mechanical vibration represents an important warning of impending machinery failure. The information embedded in the vibratory responses can be interpreted by Pretech with a great degree of accuracy in relation to severity, specific causes and contributors to the failure.

Field Testing and Analysis
With the problem defined, a series of Field Tests and parametric analysis under real operating conditions may follow. These tests verify the problem definitions and constitute the data on which the solution is eventually based. Many different process and motion variables are normally included in order to make both the diagnosis and correction applicable to the entire range of operating conditions.
Mathematical Modeling
Often, the complexity and number of contributing parameters require computer modeling of part or total system in order to understand and correct the entire scope of the problem.
A mathematical model is then developed and calibrated against actual field data so that a computer simulated real system can be used to evaluate and employ potential corrective actions with predetermined success.
Designing the Solution
Frequently, the test data alone presents a clear diagnosis and immediate course of corrective action. However, identical failures in system elements often occur repeatedly over time. This normally indicates a generic design problem and in such cases, Pretech's mitigation designs based on results generated by the dynamic model can be rapidly evaluated and optimized for a solution that is right for the first time.
Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
Generic problems aside, recognizing that mechanical equipment performs well most of the time, Pretech's PdM program offers the optimum in cost-effective failure protection. This low cost trending service measures and reports mechanical conditions on monthly, quarterly or annualized bases. PdM offers tremendous budget flexibility while reducing your shutdown exposure.
